Katie Miller

Katie Miller is the winner of the 2008 Undergraduate Division National Trumpet Competition, and the runner up of the 2009 Graduate Division. She was also a semi-finalist in the Budapest International Trumpet Competition and the Olga Koussevitzky Young Artists Awards Competition. As a soloist, Katie has performed the Haydn Concerto with the Palomar Symphony, and the Telemann Concerto with the ARTSY Orchestra at The Juilliard School and also with the Budapest National Chamber Orchestra. She has performed several works including the Desenclos: Incantation, Threne and Danse, and the Jolivet: Second Concerto at The Center for Advanced Musical Studies at Chosen Vale. Katie plays with the Juilliard Symphony under Maestro James Depriest and Jeffery Milarsky. Katie accepted her Bachelor's Degree in Music from the Juilliard School in 2008 as a student of Mr. Raymond Mase, and Mr. Mark Gould. She is currently earning her Masters of Music at Juilliard and continues to study with Mark Gould. Katie has studied with other great teachers including Hakan Hardenberger, Stephen Burns, Frank Glasson, Tom Stevens, and Gabrielle Cassone.

A native of Chicago, Horn Player Alana Vegter is a recent graduate of The Juilliard School in New York where she currently resides and actively performs with groups including Orchestra of St. Lukes, Jupiter Chamber Players, Metropolis Ensemble, and CityMusic Cleveland. Alana was a most recently a member of The Carnegie Hall Academy, where she performed the Carnegie Hall Premiere of the Ligeti Horn Trio. She is also an active member of Sospiro Winds, a New York City based Wind Quintet. While pursuing her undergraduate degree at DePaul University, she was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, training orchestra of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Alana has concertized in music halls across the United States, Europe, and Asia. She has performed in both orchestral and chamber music settings with the Spoleto Festival USA, Pacific Music Festival (Japan), The Verbier Festival Orchestra, The Juilliard Orchestra, and the Aspen Music Festival under the baton of conductors including Daniel Barenboim, Valery Gergiev, James Conlon, Pierre Boulez, Michael Tilson -Thomas, and Herbert Blomstedt.
