Josef Spacek

Josef Spacek (b. 1987), a native of Prague, graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music in 2009, where he studied with renowned violinists Jaime Laredo and Ida Kavafian. The winner of numerous national and international competitions, Mr. Spacek won the Michael Hill International Violin Competition in June 2009 and third prize in the Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition in 2008.

Mr. Spacek has performed as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Kansas City Symphony, Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra and Prague Philharmonia among others. He has soloed under numerous conductors, including Christoph Eschenbach, Asher Fisch, Jiri Belohlavek, Roy Goodman, and Aleksandar Markovic. In 2006 he released his debut CD featuring the complete Ysaye Sonatas.

Currently, Mr. Spacek is studying at the Juilliard School with Itzhak Perlman.
