Paul Murphy

Praised as one of the "standouts" among the many rising stars in Carnegie HallŐs new and critically acclaimed Ensemble ACJW, trumpeter Paul Murphy is passionate about drawing audiences deeply into the art of music. His work as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player has taken Paul to hundreds of cities and 18 countries throughout Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Now in his third year as a Fellow at the Academy: A Program of Carnegie Hall, the Juilliard School, and the Weill Music Institute, PaulŐs recent chamber music performances include collaborations with James Conlon, Christopher Hogwood, Susanna MŠlkki, Andrew Manze, and Matthias Pintscher. Paul has also appeared with Second Instrumental Unit, the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra, and the Bach Chamber Players at Holy TrinityŐs long-standing Bach Vespers series where he performs on baroque trumpet.

PaulŐs dedication to music extends well beyond the concert stage and into the classroom. In addition to his work as an Academy Fellow, he is proud to serve on faculty as a teaching artist for the New York Philharmonic. Prior to living in New York, Paul served as the Principal Trumpet of the Daejeon Philharmonic in South Korea, and has appeared regularly with the Kansas City Symphony. A graduate of the Yale School of Music and St. Olaf College, he has also studied at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and the Music Academy of the West.
