Francisco Fullana
Violin

Acclaimed for his concerto performances in both Europe and the US, violinist Francisco Fullana has appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras including a 2008 performance of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the late Sir Colin Davis and the Bayerische Philarmonie in Munich. He has appeared as a soloist with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony, the “El Sistema” Symphony Orchestra, the Spanish Radio Television Symphony Orchestra, the Atlantic Symphony and the Balearic Islands Symphony, among many others.  He has performed  all over the world, playing recitals and concerts in halls in Spain, USA, Germany, Switzerland, Venezuela, Italy, Portugal, in front of distinguished audiences that have included the King and Queen of Spain as well as the rest of the Spanish Royal Family. Engagements for season 2013-2014 include a tour of Southwest Spain with Extremadura Symphony, a Mozart Sinfonia Concertante and Adagio performance with the Atlantic Symphony as well as violin recitals and chamber music performances throughout the US, Spain and Venezuela and tours in Israel and California. 

The National Violin Prizewinner of the Pablo de Sarasate Competition, Fullana has won competitions such as Yamaha Music Foundation String Instruments of Europe Competition, TIM "Torneo Internazionale di Musica" Competition in Verona, Italy and Atlantic Symphony Concerto Competition, among numerous others. He made his debut appearance at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in 2011 as a First Prize Winner of the American Protégé International Competition.

A very active chamber musician, Fullana is part of the artist rosters of Marlboro Music and Silicon Valley Music Festivals. He has performed with members of the Cleveland, Juilliard, Ravel, Ariel and Takacs Quartets. He has also collaborated and played with distinguished artists such as Anthony Marwood and Natasha Brofsky and has worked with coaches Itzhak Perlman, Pinchas Zukerman, Ida Kavafian, Ron Copes and Earl Carlyss, among others.  Fullana has been a Young Artist Participant at the Dorothy Delay Symposium and is an alumna of the Yellow Barn Festival, the Aspen Music Festival and the Perlman Music Program. He collaborates regularly with ensembles such as Metropolis Ensemble, AXIOM and The Academy (ACJW) in Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall as well as future appearances in different chamber music series such as the Da Camera Society, Riverside Chamber Concerts, Cervantes Chamber Music Festival and the SOPAC Chamber Series, among many others.

Francisco is a founding member of Quartet Senza Misura. Season highlights include performances such as Alice Tully Hall´s central concert of ChamberFest 2013 and a recital at the Kennedy Center. QSM concerts have been broadcasted on WQXR and CNT. Other performances include eclectic venues such as the The Green Space, Dimenna Center and “The Stone”, among others. Quartet Senza Misura was the resident ensemble at “El Sistema” Chamber Music Festival in Caracas, Venezuela, including multiple recitals, teaching and collaborations with members of the Simon Bolivar Orchestra. Upcoming performances include an Alice Tully Hall return, the Consulate of France in New York, the Harvard Club and the South Orange Center for the Performing Arts.

Francisco Fullana started violin with maestro Bernat Pomar at age four. He received his Superior Degree of Violin Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid with Manuel Guillén. He has received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from The Juilliard School under Donald Weilerstein and Masao Kawasaki and is currently at the University of Southern California with Midori Goto.

He is the recipient of a 1679 Pietro Guarneri, given generously on long term loan from the Stradivari Society of Chicago.
