Alexis Neophytides
TEAK Mentor

Alexis Neophytides is a documentary filmmaker and teacher based in NYC. She is a graduate of Brown University and The New School, where she received her MA in Media Studies and Documentary Filmmaking. Her films have screened in film festivals worldwide and have been broadcast on television both in the US and abroad. Her new documentary series, Neighborhood Slice on NYC TV, tells the stories of New Yorkers who've held onto their little corner of the city in spite of fast-growing gentrification. For the past 6 years Alexis has taught various media, film and art classes at TEAK under the umbrella of Human Rights Through Art. The classes focus on introducing students to basic concepts of human rights, and showing them how to use their creative voices to affect change in the world around them.
