Tibi Cziger
Cited by the Peninsula Review as "an artist of the highest order," Tibi Cziger was born in Israel in 1981. In 2006-7 he became the first clarinetist to ever be admitted to the prestigious Artist Diploma program at The Juilliard School.
Mr. Cziger is a frequent recitalist and soloist and enjoys exploring new repertoire for the clarinet including his own arrangements of music originally for other instruments. In May 2007 Mr. Cziger will make his European solo debut with the Tivoli Festival Orchestra in Copenhagen, Denmark. Past solo appearances include the Israel Chamber Orchestra and The Israel young Philharmonic.
As a very active chamber musician, Mr. Cziger has performed a vast amount of chamber literature for the clarinet, with various concerts in live and recorded broadcasts on the Israeli National Radio, KUSC, KMZRT, and in tours in Israel, Europe and the US. He is the founder of the Gropius ensemble and has collaborated with the, Metropolis Ensemble, Kaprizma, SEM, Link and Argento Ensembles among others. Recent venues include 92Y, Weill Hall at Carnegie, Merkin and Alice Tully Halls, LACMA's Bing Theatre, Tel Aviv Museum and the Jerusalem Music Center.
Mr. Cziger is a winner of the Mitchell Lurie Award, Leni Fe Bland Foundation Scholarship, Irene Diamond Scholarship, the Juilliard Alumni scholarship, and the Irving Berlin scholarship. He is also a recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships 1997-2003, and in 2003 he received the AICF special scholarship for studies abroad.
